There is a really awesome website called www.change.org that has all kinds of environmental causes that people can show their support for through signing petitions. Many of these petitions have caused such a stir that they have resulted in victory for the cause! You can read lots more on their website about some of the victories they have experienced as a direct result of petitions circulating the globe. Until then, if you would like to be pointed in the right direction, here are some petitions which I hold close to my heart. Go sign and join the movement, if you would like. :)
"End the Killing of Loggerhead Sea Turtles in Baja Gillnets." (you can visit seaturtles.org to learn more about this cause.)
"Stop Plan to Target 38 Million Acres of Habitat in California for Clearance." (Find more info here.)
"Dunkin Donuts: Stop using styrofoam cups and switch to a more eco-friendly solution."
"Crayola, Make Your Mark! Set up a marker recycling program."
This is only a few available of hundreds, if not thousands. There is more information under each petition as well as links to learn even more, if you would like. One of the coolest features (I think) is the automatic letter you can send along with your signature to one of the politicians directly involved with the cause; this is available directly after signing. In addition, you can even contribute monetarily to the cause if you would like, also available directly after signing. And if not, simply click "return to petition" and off you go.
